Men are raised, not born
The secret to staying close to you children is knowing when to give them space…and to be available when they screw up after having their space
The phrase “the customer is always right” is…wrong. It sounds cute and looks good on the wall, but you know as well as I do, you can’t please everyone. Your grandpa Wayne used to say it another way, “kiss their ass all the way to the bank”. In my experience, the people that give you the most trouble need the most kissing and will continue this until you let your competition have them. They may threaten to tell all of their friends as they are telling you how they will never do business with you again, but you know as well as I do, a person like that problem doesn’t have that many friends to tell
When someone tells you a loved one passed away, asking how they passed adds nothing to the conversation. Just say, “I’m sorry to hear that”…and mean it
Specialists, in any field, make more money
Employers are essentially gamblers. They pick who will give them the highest return on their investment.
Just remember, if you aren’t worth more than what they pay you, they may not keep you
Dad’s formula for success:
1. Have a goal(s)
2. Define it (or them) specifically
3. Define how you are going to achieve it (step by step) and write a timeline for when you want it completed
4. Read it once per day
5. Tell a few friends your goal(s) to put a little pressure on yourself
6. Now get to work
Keep your keys beside your bed at night. A quick press of your ‘panic’ button will scare away most, if not all, would-be thieves
The amount of time it takes you to forgive your spouse or apologize to him/her is directly related to the amount of pride you need to purge from your marriage
When ironing, use a spray bottle of water to help smooth out wrinkles. Never ever use spray starch. Starch is a form of glue and I don’t know anyone that would squirt “Elmer’s” on their clothes and expect them to look and feel good over time
