The main reason I advocate going on a “proper date” is so you can really see who the person is, naked, in conversation.  

•  Where will he take you (dinner, lunch, picnic, beach, park, coffee shop, etc.)?  
•  How are his manners?  
•  Will he show you respect?  
•  Can he hold a conversation without wanting to leave in an hour?  
• Will he dress like a slob or is he treating this date like you are someone important?

Meeting someone at a mixer, party, or bar almost always means small talk and animal attraction (read: slanted to his advantage).  I mean, can you really get to know someone while shouting over Lil Wayne or Kanye West beats?  I doubt it.  

If finding true love is your goal, keep the bar high.  You often attract what you are willing to accept
