Signs a person might be lying to you:
1. Looking up and left when asked a question (when they do this they are accessing their creative/future side, not a past memory).
2. They lock-stare into your eyes in an attempt to prove their honesty. Most people in conversation speak in a “triangle” pattern with their eyes, observing your eyes, mouth, and forehead.
3. Hard swallowing
4. Abnormal voice inflection
5. As they are telling you what happened, they avoid contractions like “Don’t” instead opting for “Do not”, “Did not” replaces a usual “Didn’t”, and “That is” will replace “That’s”. For some reason, to the liar, this language sounds more authoritative.
6. They try and interject humor when none is appropriate in an attempt to lighten the situation.
7. Mis-matched/delayed body language (remember body language is over half of communication).
